Of course, the exams within psychotherapy training are not the first exams you have taken so far. However, you may experience the same emotions and face the same difficulties as during university.

Firstly, it is useful to start studying early, at least 1-2 months before the exam. You will find that the information in the textbooks is quite dense and requires time to be understood and assimilated. Manage your time well and remember that you do not have the whole day to study, as was the case during the exam sessions in university. Studying for the exam is likely concurrent with your job and/or master’s degree, family, children, and various other responsibilities. Be honest with yourself about how much you can learn in a day. You have access to the exam topics, so you know exactly what to expect.

Manage anxiety: for many of us, studying for an exam comes with performance anxiety. Sports psychology teaches us to reframe anxiety as anticipatory excitement. It is a way for our body to help us mobilize resources in a situation that is important to us. Imagine that you are already at the exam and that you feel relaxed.
