The training curricula in life coaching
The ACCPI’s Life Coaching Training Program spans two and a half years and offers a comprehensive, integrative approach to modern coaching. In the first year, you’ll focus on basic coaching techniques combined with personal development sessions, preparing you to begin practicing as a coach. The subsequent 18 months are dedicated to advanced coaching training and supervision. Overall, the curriculum covers fundamental and advanced training, personal growth, and ongoing supervision. Sessions take place on full-day weekends (Saturday and Sunday), with personal development sessions alternating with training modules in the first year and supervision sessions alternating in the second year. The following year’s schedule is finalized each December and published on the coaching department’s website.
After completing the first year of Life Coaching Training, you can begin practicing coaching in your own office and/or within various organizations. Upon successful completion, students will be awarded Certification in Life Coaching.
The first year of life coaching training includes a foundational program that combines both theoretical and practical components. Each training module lasts 20 hours, consisting of approximately 4 hours of theory, 11-12 hours of hands-on practice, and 5 hours of individual work. During this stage, students develop essential skills and knowledge required to implement various coaching interventions and techniques with clients or patients. The practical aspect is particularly crucial, as coaching cannot be fully mastered through theory alone. The basic training, conducted in English, is delivered online and consists of six structured training modules, as outlined below.
The second year of life coaching training focuses on advanced techniques, interventions, and conceptual case models. Each training module lasts 20 hours, including approximately 4 hours of theoretical instruction, 11-12 hours of practical applications, and 5 hours of individual work. This stage equips beginner coaches with the skills to develop intervention plans and select appropriate techniques tailored to each client’s unique needs. The advanced training, conducted in English, is delivered online and consists of six structured training modules, as outlined below.
Personal development is one of the fundamental components of training in integrative strategic coaching. Studies indicate that a coach’s level of personal development is directly linked to the effectiveness of their coaching practice. If we do not know ourselves well enough or have not adequately processed our own challenges, we may unconsciously project our personal emotions and thoughts onto our clients. Actively and empathetically listening, as well as clarifying the client’s issues without countertransference interference, is one of the most challenging tasks for a beginner coach.
Group personal development sessions take place online. You will complete six modules of group personal development, each comprising 15 hours of group therapy and 5 hours of individual work, based on the Personal Development Workbook. The detailed topics covered in the personal development modules can be found below.
Supervision takes place during the second and a half years of training and is designed to support beginner coaches in their work with clients. When starting out as a coach, many uncertainties and unknowns remain. Guidance from experienced colleagues is essential when facing challenges, and encouragement is valuable when dealing with anxieties about whether we are on the right path.
Group supervision modules last 15 hours and are conducted online. If you require additional individual supervision, you can reach out to any of the supervisors within our association.
During the supervision period, you will work with your own clients, either in a private practice or within an organization. To complete supervision, you must accumulate a minimum of 100 client contact hours. Additionally, for at least five supervised cases, you will need to prepare supervision reports.
Further details on the supervision process can be found below: Supervision.
Peer Supervision (Intervision)
Peer supervision is organized online every month and is free for ACCPI members. Group peer supervision sessions last between 3-4 hours and are intended for urgent client-related situations that arise during coaching sessions, as well as for brief consultations on specific issues. While peer supervision does not replace formal supervision hours, it serves as an additional support system for our trainees.
Peer supervision modules are announced monthly on our WhatsApp group.
Exams
You will be required to take both theoretical and practical exams.
- Theoretical exams are conducted orally (for online format) or in written form (for hybrid and in-person formats) based on our course manuals. There are two theoretical exams during the training: one at the end of the first year and another at the end of the full program.
- Practical exam: At the end of the training, you will need to create a coaching plan and select appropriate interventions for a specific case.
- Additional requirements: You must submit at least four reports and book reviews, as well as a dissertation.
Exam schedules are announced in December of the previous year, ensuring ample time for preparation.
