During this program, we will explore creative intervention methods in psychotherapy, the use of theater in building integrative psychotherapeutic interventions, investigate and modify maladaptive life scripts, transform beliefs, and work with emotions.
Theater has always been a space of authentic expression, catharsis, and self-discovery. In psychotherapy, theatrical techniques become powerful tools for exploring emotions, increasing awareness of inner blockages, and transforming personal experiences. A summer school dedicated to this theme provides a safe and stimulating environment where participants can engage in various forms of dramatic play, psychodrama, and improvisation to access their inner resources and discover new perspectives on their identity.
In psychodrama, the method developed by Jacob L. Moreno, participants are invited to act out their own life stories, give voice to unspoken emotions, and explore alternative solutions to inner conflicts. The role of the protagonist in this form of therapy allows for a symbolic reenactment of significant moments, facilitating understanding and integration. Moreover, taking on different roles can enhance empathy towards others and increase personal flexibility in identity construction.
Theatrical improvisation is another valuable tool used in psychotherapy, offering a space for spontaneity, creativity, and the release of fears and inhibitions. Through improvisation exercises, participants learn to overcome social anxieties, stay present in the moment, and freely express their thoughts and emotions. In a summer school focused on theater in psychotherapy, these methods become means through which people can rewrite their life narratives, find new meanings, and experience healing through dramatic art.
Thus, the use of theater in psychotherapy is not only a way to explore the self, but also a path to transforming suffering into creative expression, learning to relate authentically, and building a space for personal and collective growth. Such an experience in a summer school setting not only enriches the participants’ knowledge, but also provides them with a dynamic and transformative method to reconnect with their inner voice and personal story.
