Established in 2011 by Oana Maria Popescu (President), Loredana Ileana Vîșcu, and Silvia Georgiana Gane (Vice Presidents), the Association of Collaborative Research, Counseling and Psychotherapy Integration (ACCPI) originated with a pioneering cohort of eight individuals undertaking training in integrative psychotherapy in Timișoara, Romania. By 2017, ACCPI had expanded to operate 17 integrative psychotherapy groups across Romania in cities including Timișoara, Bucharest, Hunedoara, Deva, Arad, Reșița, and Sibiu, a development symbolically underscored by the alignment of the number of groups with the year. That same year, ACCPI initiated its inaugural training groups in child psychotherapy. Looking to the future, the association aspires to establish at least 77 training groups by 2077.
ACCPI is distinguished by its status as a European Accrediting Psychotherapy Training Institute (EAPTI), attained in 2022, which empowers it to directly confer the European psychotherapist certificate upon graduates. Currently, ACCPI offers a diverse range of training programs in integrative psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, expressive psychotherapy, life coaching, organizational coaching, political psychology, training for supervisors, and training for mental health trainers, all of which hold international accreditation. Additionally, ACCPI conducts continuous professional development courses (CPD).
In 2024, the association launched its first English-language group in integrative psychotherapy, followed in 2025 by the inaugural group in child psychotherapy. Also in 2025, ACCPI began a collaborative venture with the Turning Point Institute in Ireland to develop a globally unique course—training for trainers in psychotherapy and other mental health professions, also delivered in English.
ACCPI’s accreditation credentials are comprehensive, including recognitions from the European Association of Psychotherapy (EAP), the European Association of Integrative Psychotherapy (EAIP), the European Interdisciplinary Association for Therapeutic Services for Children and Young People (EIATSCYP), the European Association of Hypno-Psychotherapy (EAHP), the Romanian Psychologists’ College, and the Romanian Psychotherapy Federation. The journey towards these accreditations began in 2011 when ACCPI was endorsed by the Romanian Psychologists’ College as a professional training provider in integrative psychotherapy and obtained associate membership status from the European Association of Integrative Psychotherapy. The following year, ACCPI elevated its status to provisional membership, and by 2015, it achieved full membership within the EAIP. Early 2016 marked further accreditation by the Romanian Federation of Psychotherapy. That year, the association also secured accreditation from the Romanian Psychologists’ College for its training program in child and adolescent integrative psychotherapy and from the European Interdisciplinary Association for Therapeutic Services for Children and Young People. The expansion continued unabated, and by the end of 2016, ACCPI was accredited as a professional training provider for integrative hypnotherapy. In 2019, driven by a passion for the arts, ACCPI inaugurated its training program in expressive psychotherapy, which also led to the formation of the amateur theater group Terapia, performing in Timișoara, Reșița, and Bocșa. In 2021, ACCPI was granted direct membership of the European Association of Psychotherapy, and in 2022, it received EAPTI accreditation from the EAP and accreditation from the European Association of Hypno-Psychotherapy. In 2023, the association applied for direct membership to the World Council of Psychotherapy.
